About Us

Hillcrest Surgery is based in Acton, W3 and has been established since the early 20th Century.  There are currently 2 partners, one male (Dr Tailor) and one female (Dr Dhatt).

The practice has been a teaching practice for medical students since 1972 and a training practice since 1997

In 2008 the surgery became a Development and Research Practice under an Ealing PCT initiative and successfully bid for monies to support a non-research enquiry in to end of life care in nursing homes.  The Practice has also taken part in a number of large research projects.

Hillcrest Surgery aims to provide a high quality of care to all our patients to the best of our ability and resources available.  We aim to respect patient privacy, confidentiality, dignity and cultural beliefs.

We have always had strong links with health policy decisions and play an active role in the work Ealing Clinical Commissioning Group.  Dr Tailor is an elected Board Member.

Facilities

We have ramp and wide doors for wheelchair access, and most facilities are available on the ground floor.

We are investigating the possibility of induction loop for hearing aids.

We have a small operating theatre for minor surgery.

If you are unable to climb stairs please let the receptionist know when booking any appointments.

Services to Patients

We provide a wide range of services here on site for our patients including minor surgery, coil fitting, INR monitoring, phlebotomy, diabetic and asthma specialist clinics as well as travel vaccinations and all general nursing and GP services.

Teaching and Training

We are involved in teaching medical students, junior hospital doctors and GP Registrars. In addition, the district nurses help train nurses. This all helps ensure that we work to the highest standards.

Dr Tailor is the trainer for the GP Registrars. These doctors have completed their hospital training – at least three years after qualifying – and have experience in A&E and paediatrics among other specialities.

We also have training hospital doctors join us. They will have done at least a year in hospitals after qualifying and will be closely supervised as they get experience of general practice.

Dr Mirza, Dr Chu and Dr Ali all take medical students from Imperial Medical School at various stages of their training.

We are committed to providing a high quality service and staff training is a priority, so we do occasionally shut, or run reduced services for this to happen.

If you have any concerns or would like to know more please ask to speak the Practice Manager.

Waiting room

All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.

The average pay for GPs working in Hillcrest Surgery in the last financial year was £66,708 before tax and National Insurance. This is for 7 part time GPs who worked in the practice for more than six months.
