Prescriptions during the virus

We have now switched over to the EPS4 electronic system whereby all scripts will be sent by the link electronically to your nominated chemist. Please see more information  below and ensure that we have your nominated pharmacy on your records. Please send your requests by email, systmone online or via the NHS app.  Requests can also be posted through the door.

EPS currently allows prescribers to send prescriptions electronically to a dispenser of the patient’s choice – known as their “nominated” dispenser.  If you are away or there is a supply issue at your normal pharmacy and want to collect a prescription from a different pharmacy we can make a one off nomination – just note on your prescription request that as a one off you’d like it to sent to whichever pharmacy you’ve chosen.

Paper prescriptions will continue to be available in special circumstances, but almost all prescriptions will be processed electronically.

Patients without an EPS nomination will be given a token (patients may refer to this as a paper copy of their prescription) to present at a community pharmacy or Dispensing Appliance Contractor (DAC) to obtain their medication. This token will contain a unique barcode which can be scanned at any community pharmacy or DAC in England to download the prescription from the NHS Spine and retrieve the medication details.
