Sickness Certificates

Corona update –

The government have issued guidance that Med3 certificates are not required for those patients who are self-isolating due to Covid-19 (either because of symptoms or they live with someone who has symptoms).

You can obtain an isolation note via the NHS 111 online website using link https://111.nhs.uk/isolation-note

Once a few questions have been answered the isolation note will be emailed to  you or directly to  your employer.

As a reminder employees can still self certify for the first 7 days of absence.  The isolation note then provides the information that your employer requires as evidence of absence from work.

Alternatively you may wish to use this   Covid-19 Sick Note

The NHS provides sickness certification only after seven continuous days of illness.  If you need a sick note to cover this period of sickness you should complete a Self Certification (SC2) form which is available from your employer or on the HMRC website.

Please visit the Direct Gov website for full information about fitness for work following a period of sickness. After this period a NHS certificate may be issued but you will need to contact the surgery as it may be necessary to discuss your request with your GP.

Do I need a note saying I’m fit for work?

No. You do not need to see your GP again to be ‘signed back to work’.
